[ Not both Winter and Malkuth condemning solitary ketchup eaters to imprisonment....but Wriothesley merely shrugs by way of reply. ]
The drama of it all, I suppose. Our ruling Archon, Lady Furina, has quite the flair for theatrics. Though personally I find it mostly tiring and confusing.
[ Now there's another story (multiple stories??) there. ]
Laws exist for a reason but I have to agree, it does seem unnecessarily complicated. Still, the Fortress isn't too bad a place to be if you ever find yourself down there. One free meal a day, a bed all to yourself, and the oppotunity to be compensated fairly for your work.
[ They exist to be BROKEN. No, he's not the kind of thief who goes around doing anything and everything that might get him arrested, he's smarter than that. ]
Is that what you call the prison? And how do you know so much about it?
[ So only breaking laws when he's sure he won't get caught, got it. (Just kidding....unless?)
Anyway, that's a loaded question and the silence that follows is probably noticeable as something not entirely natural, as though he's pondering how best to answer. (He is.) Though it doesn't take too long before he does give his answer, paired with a small smile. ]
Winter is too observant not to notice the nature of that pause. He won't pry too heavily, since he and Wriothesley aren't exactly close, though he will pry a little. ]
[ He puts one hand over his heart, a dramatic sigh escaping his lips. ]
Got it in one.
[ Thanks for not prying too much though. One day he'll be a little more forthcoming about his prison stint but tragically today is not that day. The reminder of what today is the day for though quickly makes itself known again. ]
And from the sounds of things, I should probably be on my way to take care of some paperwork before I end up with a different sort of punishment.
[ Would he look good in leather? Probably. Does he want to risk it? Absolutely not. ]

And... where is this a law?

[ There's another moment of silence before he tacks on helpfully: ]
Oh, and you can be imprisoned for eating ketchup by itself as well.

In fairness, anyone eating ketchup by itself deserves to be imprisoned. Why all the strange and particular laws, though?

It sounds tiring and confusing. The law and I often don't... hm, get along, and all that sounds extra unnecessary.

I spent some time down there when I was younger.
[ No guessing as to what his crime was though. ]

Let me guess... ketchup eater?
[ Okay, he'll pry more seriously after this. ]

A smart move. I should work on my own and get my fabulously dressed arse in the queue. Take care, Wriothesley.
