Tomorrow, approximately 11 AM at the elevators. I'll meet you on your floor to pick you up. Depending on how long it will take, we shall also pick up some lunch.
[She's already got an itinerary for them, how dependable.
[ He kind of figured she'd arrive right on the hour, and so he's ready to greet her. The door swings open, and there's Winter. Christmas outing fit check? Christmas outing fit check.
Good morning. Looks like you're all ready, so we can just get going.
[Amelia is wearing one of her usual outfits, a navy blue button-up dress and sensible flats. To her credit, she usually grooms herself so her hair is sleek and her glasses are shiny, so she's always ready for anything.
To the elevators then and when they're inside she presses the button to ascend. ]
So the floor I found is a combination of fashion and cosmetics. As I said in my message, however, our focus will be on our nails. Have you ever given yours any thought before?
[ Winter has no issue moving around in the low gravity environment of his floor of residence, but her magic does make it awfully convenient. It's nice to be able to walk to the elevator for a change. ]
I keep myself neat, of course, but nail lacquer isn't something that someone like me typically has access to.
[Nail polish has to be made with specific ingredients with all sorts of factors to keep in mind; color, luster, texture, dry time... She can imagine that it's seen as frivolous among the more labor/work-intensive denizens of Winter's world.]
It's widely available where I'm from though I don't paint my nails all that often. I know some people who are avid collectors. The amount of hues is staggering.
... And that's why I thought you'd be interested. It's a very small indulgence, but there is something nice about well-crafted and taken care of nails.
[The realization slams into her and her eyes widen a tad and pink floods her cheeks. Oh god, how much does he know?? It's not supposed to be secretive but Amelia is not ready for this, it's too early and—]
[Maybe the next thing she needs to learn is how to share a laugh with other people outside of her new relationship because she is shifting her weight between her feet, holding back the urge to snip. Patience, Amelia...]
If you need to sate your curiosity... Well, do it now or forever hold your silence.
[this is her showing effort to be open, good job teacher m'am]
[She kind of surprises herself for being able to be upfront about it. The way she sees it, she's not doing herself or Gale any favors trying to run circles around the matter.]
It happened back during the ball. The mistletoe was part of it but I think... [Amelia's cheeks turn faintly pink again when she thinks about how even she was able to tell that the wizard was harboring feelings towards her.]
[And for the first time since they've met, Amelia smiles a little at Winter's encouragement. Truthfully, there are several major reasons why this could all be for naught but those are something she'll deal with by herself.]
We'll see how it all goes.
Today's your day, though so let's make sure that by the end of this, you'll look sharper than before.
[With a soft ding, the elevator stops and the doors slide open for them both.]
Well, if there's anything I've learned as a witch, it's that the impossible can be made possible.
[Welcome to Sephloora.
The layout would be foreign to Winter, but for Amelia the floor is like a giant makeup store with numerous stations for cosmetics and everything is lit up with pale white or yellow lights. It's a flurry of activity from guests who are shopping around for makeup, getting makeovers, and employees running up and down the aisles to make sure everything is running smoothly. Outside of the cosmetics are several stores with high-end looking fashion, not only for humanoids but for the non-humans too. Way further down are tattoo shops and hair salons.
Amelia takes a deep breath. It's way too busy for her taste, but this is for Winter and just for today.]
Well, no time like the present. The nail salon isn't too far and I've already booked ourselves appointments. If you'd like to take a detour though, let me know.
No don't actually— ANYWAY, as with most things in the hotel that skew more modern, Winter finds himself a little overwhelmed at first. There's so much stuff, and the lights are so bright, the crowd bustling. Even the busiest market in Waterdeep doesn't quite compare to the activity here.
But once he stops looking around like a deer caught in the headlights, he starts zeroing in on more and more. The makeup, especially, calls to him. Oh, the fun he could have with some of these things. ]
I think if I take a detour now, we may well be late for our appointment. On the way out, however, I would not be opposed.
That's a good idea. Let's keep to the schedule then.
[As they walk on by, several shoppers and employees are giving Winter approving looks and nods. By the standards of this floor, he's dressed to kill. Meanwhile, Amelia... Well, they're sure she'll get some more haute couture fashion sooner than later!
She leads them into a small nail technician's workshop where one heavily tattooed alien woman with pale lavender skin, sits at the table. There are shelves behind her filled with hundreds upon hundreds of bottles of nail lacquer. Some are sheer, others opaque. Many shimmer and shine and even if several colors look the same, upon closer inspection, each comes in a different finish.
The nail tech looks up and her (multiple) eyes light up when she sees Amelia and her friend.]
"Why, hello Miss Steinbeck and new guest? You've brought me not only your hands but a pair of new ones to touch?"
[Amelia hikes up a brow but pulls a chair out for Winter and then herself before sitting down.]
Yes, we're here for our appointment. He's new to all of this though, so you're going to have to walk him through it.
"Mmmm. Yes, yes. May I see your hands young man? Then I'll give you some ideas for colors."

[ He motions up to his face by way of explanation. The eye makeup, the painted lips. He clearly enjoys such things, so why not add more to the pile? ]

It's a very lovely outfit by the way. You'll fit in well with the floor we're going to.
If anything I'm a little underdressed for the occasion.

I am allowed to be invested in the happiness of my friends, aren’t I? All I want to know is if you two are an item or not.
[ That will determine whether he’s just happy for them or has to lock them both in a closet together– (He wouldn’t. Unless…?) ]
